Lets talk about E-Design

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

E-Design

/iːdɪˈzʌɪn/

1. An electronic, virtual or remote interior design service.

E-Design has been a ‘thing’ for a while however it gained popularity as we all went into lockdown. People still wanted to transform their homes, even more so since we were all spending most of our time at home, and the usual interior design services were not available. So this is where E-Design stepped in and it is now a service offered by almost all interior design companies. A lot of people who received this service came to realise that it is actually way more affordable, quick and convenient. It gives more control over the project and lets clients go at their own pace with a clear vision already laid out for them.

As someone who started their path in interior design as the pandemic began I mostly did E-Design projects and found that it is not only beneficial for the clients but lets me connect with a lot of different people from different countries. So below I want to give an exact definition for what E-Design is as well as explain how it works and why you should not shy away from it. It is a great service which makes it possible for more people to avail of interior design services.

What is E-Design?

E-Design is an interior design service which is done fully online. Regardless of where you live, you can work with an interior designer on your project as long as you have an internet connection.

The biggest benefit of eDesign is that it is more affordable and the turnaround time is much quicker. If you don't have a high budget and are willing to manage the project yourself, the designer helps you pull together the vision of your room/home.

This is good for people who have a smaller project they want to complete, are on a smaller budget, want to complete a project at their own pace or are not in the area to avail of an interior design service.

By the end you will be able to complete your project effortlessly as you will have all the resources needed.

How does it work at Jana Hatilova Interior Design?

There is a very clear structure with E-Design so if you decide to go with this service there is a few steps that have to be followed.

Step 1: The first step is for us to figure out your vision, your wants and needs so we do an online consultation. We also ask for you to send us any reference images or your Pinterest board to help us come up with a concept for your space.

Step 2: During this stage we require some assistance from you. We would need you to take measurements and photos of your room, as well as any furniture you want to keep that you already have. You will get clear instructions on how to do it so you don't need to figure out anything yourself. Once we receive this information we start working on the mood board.

Step 3: This is the part where we create a moodboard and discuss it with you to make sure we are in line with your vision.

Step 4: Once the mood board has been approved we start working on the design. During this step we produce 2D Layouts and 3D visuals. We want you to have the best representation of what your space will look like.

Step 5: Once you are happy with how it will look we put together a product list with links to where to purchase the item, as well as quantities and a price breakdown. As well as that we put together an implementation guide (if required) where you are given all the instructions you need to put it all together.

Step 6: This step is where you actually bring it to life! We always ask to send us pictures of the ‘after’ result, that is of course if you want to.

Any additional consultation time can be arranged in case you have any questions in regards to the finished product or if you need any additional help.

We want you to get the best result so we will make sure you have all the information you need to help you finish this project. We think this is a great service and hoping you will enjoy it too.
